Called my kid's school to ask where we log in for classes. Her school said "someone will call you tomorrow." I replied, "but that's the first day of school." I was told, "a teacher will call you" and then she quickly hung up. Anger doesn't even begin to describe my mood.

The other day, I saw a census worker, clipboard in hand, going door to door. And I thought, she is a hero. It got me thinking about how my definition of hero has changed quite a bit in a year. Or maybe it needed to be changed.
