Sheriff: Two deputies returned fire with rifles, while waiting on forensic to confirms, he believes those deputies shot and killed James Blake Montgomery. Montgomery used a modified 9mm converted to be fully automatic in the shooting.

#BREAKING Columbia County Sheriff Clay Whittle confirms the deputy shot and killed yesterday was Brandon Sykes. Sykes joined the department in 2018 and was a member of the Crime Suppression Team. His wife is also employed by the Sheriff’s office.

The suspect, James Blake Montgomery, was shot and killed by deputies at the scene, according to law enforcement sources. Montgomery was listed in a Temporary Protective Order. Law enforcement searching for Montgomery had been told he was possibly carrying pipe bombs.

Five people were shot at a house party in Glynn County last night, according to police. Four of the victims’ injuries are considered non-life threatening, the fifth is still in the hospital. Those hurt range from 18-21 years old. This happened in the Fairway Oaks neighborhood.
