The alleged suspect in Magdeburg is an anti-Muslim activist who is pro-Israel and a supporter of the far-right AfD party. The 50-year old fled Saudi Arabia in 2006 because of his activism for atheism. He accused Germany of persecuting Saudi refugees.

At least two people were killed in the attack on the #Magdeburg Christmas market — an adult and a child — Saxony-Anhalt's Prime Minister Reiner Haseloff confirmed. At least 60 were injured.
