PHOENIX – As the Arizona State baseball team awaits its postseason fate, memories turn to the last time the Sun Devils advanced to the College World Series in 2010. That’s also the year Jake Borup played his final season for ASU before waiting to see which team would take him in MLB’s amateur draft. These days, Borup is playing the waiting game again … for a new heart.

PHOENIX – Oakland Athletics owner John Fisher has his sights set on Las Vegas. And if the team’s relocation comes to fruition, no MLB ballpark will be closer to Phoenix than that one. On March 4 and 5, the A’s played a pair of split squad spring training games at Las Vegas Ballpark, the current home of the A’s Triple-A Las Vegas Aviators. On April 29, they purchased a plot of land near the Las Vegas Strip.

MESA – There are no shortages of snake-related team names in Arizona. There are the Diamondbacks, the Rattlers and … the Sidewinders? The Arizona Sidewinders are the first professional Ultimate team in Arizona and one of eight professional women’s and non-binary Ultimate teams across the West Coast. Part of the Western Ultimate League, Arizona is joined by teams from Washington (Seattle), Oregon (Portland), Utah, Colorado and California (San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego).
