Sorry to hear the news Colin Hart has died. Great boxing writer and good athletics writer , both for the Sun when it was at the top of its game. You had to show Harty you knew what you were doing, he didn’t suffer fools. When you got to know him he was great company and fun.

Big win for Tamworth away to Dagenham&Redbridge that secures National Lge football for next season. Fitting it should be done in the ‘Jack Steggles Derby’ so named by me in memory of my old journalist pal Jack who watched Dagenham in his retirement. Happy memories Jack.

Just caught up with Kelly Holmes book. Can’t recommend it highly enough. Knew Kelly and wrote about her as Daily Express athletics correspondent at the beginning, golden end and into retirement. Loved her and admired her. Never knew why she didn’t come out as gay. But do now.

I’ve saved a documentary on Denis Law to watch again because this sad day has been coming for a while with Denis unwell. I shall watch it tonight with tears. I saw him as a wonderful player, got to know him in his retirement. He was sharp and funny.. Special. God bless you Denis.
