It depends on the card. Check with the business that sold it. They can tell you if it can be reloaded.

As the story and interviews said, retail gift cards do not expire, with a few exceptions. Visa and other cash gift cards do.

My understanding, and I may be wrong, is that it is a single fee. I am not aware of add ons. I would suggest, if this was recent, that you speak to EHS.

@YvonneCBC I will find out, he has lived here since 1978. Thanks for asking, if this is something I got wrong, I will say so. I will get the break down. Are there additional fees for having to use equipment? Or is it a one and done fee?

The fee for ground ambulance for a resident of NS is $146.55. For a non- resident it is $732.95. Was the bill for ambulance service in NS? Was he considered a resident at the time? Did he take more than one ambulance?
