ABC World News Tonight

ABC World News Tonight, officially known as ABC World News Tonight with David Muir during weeknight broadcasts since September 2014, and simply ABC World News Tonight on weekends, serves as the primary evening news show for ABC News, part of the American Broadcasting Company (ABC) network in the U.S. David Muir has been the anchor for the weekday editions since 2014. For the weekend editions, Cecilia Vega and Tom Llamas took turns as anchors until January 2017, when Llamas became the sole weekend anchor. Since its launch in 1953, the program has seen various hosts and has gone through several name changes. It was known as ABC Evening News from 1970 to 1978, then as World News Tonight from 1978 to 2006. It was called World News from 2006 to 2009, and then ABC World News from 2009 to 2014. Since 2014, it has been referred to as ABC World News Tonight.
