QAs salamu `alaikum, I'm a father and I feel like I don't like my baby. I feel like rejecting my own baby. I hate crying and disturbance. Also, I can't tolerate a crying baby. I have problems with my wife that really shadow our life together, and I'm thinking of getting married again or divorced. The problem is that she likes to control everything, while I want to share ideas and thoughts. She thinks that I'm a dreamer and unrealistic. Can you please send me some advice? Thank you.

Commonly translated as ‘jealousy’, the term ‘gheerah’ has unfortunately been used to justify extremely controlling and even abusive behavior from men towards their wives or other women over whom they wield authority. A better translation of gheerah is ‘honorable protectiveness’ rather than jealousy.

QMy husband and I are both Muslims; he by birth while I became a Muslim 6 years ago. The last few years have been rather unhappy for me, but since we have two kids, I try to hold on and show a brave face. My husband keeps his Arab culture very strictly, and he has a terrible temper. For instance, he has threatened to kill my sister, and he denied me contact with my mother for almost 2 years. He has also threatened to kill me, and I really believed he would go through with it.

QPeace be on you! I am a PhD student in Law (Bioethics and Philosophy). Just a question regarding a point in my thesis: Is it true that it is written in Quran - and where - that it is a sin to ask oneself, or God, too many questions? More in the sense of: why? and why? and so on. In fact it is true, that acting like this, you make life much more difficult. Thank you very much for your help. Kind regards. Short Answer:Islam never said that people should stop asking questions or avoid research.
