It first aired on September 9, 1996, and highlights events and celebrities from the entertainment world. The show was created by Jim Van Messel, who was previously the executive producer of Entertainment Tonight. Currently, Maureen FitzPatrick serves as the executive producer, while Richard Plotkin directs the program. Over the years, other directors have included Doug Dougherty, Christopher A. Berry, and Kim Anastasia. Access Hollywood mainly covers stories related to the music, television, and film sectors.
