Rather than benefitting consumers, new evidence in this 2-part investigation raises serious questions about possible conflict of interest. Due in part to the contracts that favour these IPPs, consumers have had to pay for the electricity they generate, even when the power itself is not supplied to the power grid. As a result, power bills remain high.
