Wizz Air is set to launch a new service connecting Birmingham in the UK with Sibiu in Romania from October this year. Flights will operate twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 28 October, with fares starting from £17.99. The low-cost carrier said the new service adds to its growing network at Birmingham Airport. The addition of the Birmingham-Sibiu service brings the total number of routes from the UK airport to four, Wizz Air said.

In May, Finnair carried 1,017,200 passengers, which was 3.2% more than in May 2024. Passenger numbers increased significantly in North Atlantic and Asian traffic and saw a slight increase also in European traffic. Passenger numbers remained stable in Domestic traffic and declined n Middle Eastern traffic. Overall capacity, measured in available seat kilometres (ASK), increased by 6.6%. Capacity grew significantly in North Atlantic and Asian traffic.

TAP Air Portugal has launched a direct flight from the Azores to San Francisco, connecting UK and Irish passengers travelling via Portugal to California. Starting 3 June, one of TAP’s flights between Lisbon and San Francisco is scheduled to stop in the Azorean island of Terceira. Flight TP241 will operate on Tuesdays using the Airbus A330neo.
