Wizz Air unveils new Birmingham-Sibiu route

Wizz Air is set to launch a new service connecting Birmingham in the UK with Sibiu in Romania from October this year. Flights will operate twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays from 28 October, with fares starting from £17.99. The low-cost carrier said the new service adds to its growing network at Birmingham Airport. The addition of the Birmingham-Sibiu service brings the total number of routes from the UK airport to four, Wizz Air said.

Finnair reports May 2025 traffic performance

In May, Finnair carried 1,017,200 passengers, which was 3.2% more than in May 2024. Passenger numbers increased significantly in North Atlantic and Asian traffic and saw a slight increase also in European traffic. Passenger numbers remained stable in Domestic traffic and declined n Middle Eastern traffic. Overall capacity, measured in available seat kilometres (ASK), increased by 6.6%. TAP Air Portugal has launched a direct flight from the Azores to San Francisco, connecting UK and Irish passengers travelling via Portugal to California. Starting 3 June, one of TAP’s flights between Lisbon and San Francisco is scheduled to stop in the Azorean island of Terceira. Flight TP241 will operate on Tuesdays using the Airbus A330neo.
Edelweiss Air launches direct Zurich-Seattle service

On Monday, Edelweiss Air took off from Zurich to Seattle for the first time. The new connection was celebrated with a ceremony at Zurich Airport. With Seattle, Edelweiss now flies directly from Zurich to four holiday destinations in the US including Tampa Bay, Las Vegas and Denver. The seasonal flights take place on Mondays and Saturdays. An Airbus A340 with 314 seats is used for the flights. The season ends on 15 September 2025.
