Kolkata: Kolkata Municipal Corporation (KMC) has purchased two modern vehicles from Denmark that convert urban waste into fertiliser. These vehicles are called Onsite Sludge Dewatering vehicles. KMC has spent Rs 9 crore on them and to set up a unit in Dhapa to operate. There was a survey conducted before the vehicles were purchased. It was discovered that only 60 per cent of households have bathrooms connected to the city drains, while 40 per cent of buildings still have septic tanks.

New Delhi: The Appointments Committee of the Cabinet (ACC), headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has cleared a series of key postings, including the appointment of IPS R.A. Chandrashekhar as the next Secretary (Security) in the Cabinet Secretariat, along with the designation of 38 IPS officers as Additional Director Generals of Police (ADGs) at the Centre. IPS R.A. Chandrashekhar, a 1991-batch from the Kerala cadre, currently serves as the Special Director of the Intelligence Bureau.
