The Athens News Agency - Macedonian Press Agency (ANA-MPA) has been a key player in the media landscape for over a hundred years. Founded on January 1, 1905, the Athens News Agency (ANA) originated when the Greek government acquired the privately-owned Stefanopoli Telegraphic Agency. The agency's first director was Ioannis Parren. In 2008, ANA joined forces with the Macedonian Press Agency (MPA), which had been established in 1991 and was based in Thessaloniki, to create the Athens Macedonian News Agency (AMNA). ANA-MPA is responsible for producing, gathering, editing, and sharing a wide range of news stories and photographs, as well as radio and television content, which it distributes to media organizations in Greece, Cyprus, and various other countries, including the Greek diaspora.
