His personal best is 7:56. The para-athlete competed against able-bodied athletes; however, Liam Stanley, the 2016 Rio Paralympic silver medallist, was also in the race. Clifford will take in two more meets before he heads back to Australia for winter base training.

    Oakville, Ontario’s Ben Preisner and Smithers, British Columbia native Eliyah Brawdy each won the Vancouver Half Marathon on Sunday, June 22. Ben Preisner won the Vancouver Half Marathon in a time of 1:04:35. Taking second was Vancouver native Brendan Wong, and finishing in third was masters runner and fellow Vancouver resident Craig McMillan. Wong finished in 1:06:33, while McMillan rolled in at 1:07:57, respectively. McMillian competes in the 45-49 age category.

It was an afternoon affair offering competitive races over the 100 metre sprints up to the 3000m and field events. Melbourne, Australia’s Jaryd Clifford won the men’s 3000 metre race at the annual Victoria Track Classic on Sunday, clocking a time of 8:08.36.

She raced in Eugene, Oregon, at Hayward Field, finishing in 8:40.03, bettering her previous record of 8:40.99 from two weeks prior. “Depending on how I was feeling, I wanted to close it out strong and get those lights at the end there. It was much more of a battle than I anticipated, but I’m here for it, and I just wanted to maximize that effort today,” She told the media after the race.
