Atlantic City’s mayor and schools superintendent, who are accused of abusing their teenage daughter, are set to be arraigned Thursday. Marty Small Sr., 50, and his wife, La’Quetta Small, 47, are scheduled to appear in front of Atlantic County Superior Court Judge Bernard DeLury at 9 a.m.The Smalls were indicted Sept. 17 on charges of endangering the welfare of a child. Mayor Small was additionally indicted on charges of terroristic threats and aggravated assault.

The Atlantic City High School principal who allegedly failed to report the abuse of the mayor and superintendent’s daughter pleaded not guilty during an arraignment Thursday morning. Constance Days-Chapman, 39, is charged with official misconduct, pattern of official misconduct, endangering the welfare of a child and hindering apprehension. She is due back in court Dec. 5 for a status conference.

The case against Atlantic City High School principal accused of failing to report child abuse has been referred to a grand jury, court officials said. Constance Days-Chapman is charged with official misconduct, hindering apprehension of another, obstruction of justice and failure to report child abuse. It is unknown when the case will go before the grand jury. “We adjourned it without a new date,” Days-Chapman’s attorney Lee Vartan said in a text message Wednesday afternoon.
