Austin Talks
The Austin neighborhood, with a population of around 100,000, boasts a vibrant mix of culture and community life. AustinTalks, an initiative of the Communication Department at Columbia College Chicago, aims to showcase this diversity by delivering unique news and information to the residents of Chicago's largest neighborhood. Since its launch in spring 2010, the content on AustinTalks—comprising stories, photos, videos, and audio—has primarily been created by journalism students from Columbia College Chicago. The site also features contributions from alumni, local residents, and others committed to enhancing the West Side.

In the tradition of great musical families like the Jacksons and the Staples Singers, Chicago blues band leader Larry Taylor will unveil an album featuring his siblings and son. A CD release party for Generations of Blues, featuring live music by the Taylors, will be held Sunday, June 18 at Fitzgeralds in Berwyn, just in time for Juneteenth weekend during Black Music Month.
