Automotive Industries (magazine)
Automotive Industries (AI) is recognized as one of the oldest trade publications still in circulation, specifically focusing on the automotive sector. It was originally launched in November 1895 under the name The Horseless Age, marking the first publication dedicated to documenting the shift from horse-drawn vehicles to those powered by internal combustion engines. In July 1909, it was renamed The Automobile, during a time when gasoline, steam, and electricity were all competing for dominance in transportation. The magazine adopted its current name in November 1917. During World War II, it briefly changed to Automotive and Aviation Industries to reflect its expanded coverage, which included advancements in the aircraft industry, a field many automakers were involved in at the time.
