LSU Shreveport won the NAIA National Championship to become the first team in college baseball history to go undefeated. (Photo credit: Spencer Farrin)Quite a weekend around the world of baseball, and I’m not just talking about the major leagues (see above). June has arrived, and the normal summer temps are finally here in New York, starting this week with a few days in the 80s, thank God. It’s been a relatively cool and crumby spring, and I’m ready for warm-weather baseball nationwide.

The 2024 World Series rematch is on in Los Angeles. The Yankees visit the Dodgers in a battle of first-place teams, and it may very well be a preview of the 2025 Fall Classic. Howdy, folks. We’re in the final weekend of May, which means summer is officially on the horizon as the calendar flips to June. The last few days of MLB were somewhat interesting. The series with the most at stake was between Atlanta and Philadelphia.

The Mets just keep on finding ways to victory. After an impressive series win versus the Dodgers over the weekend, they certainly deserve some attention. (Photo credit: AP-Adam Hunger)Hey, folks. The 2023 NL MVP, Ronald Acuna Jr., returns to the Braves this weekend after missing the last year while recovering from a torn ACL. It’s cold, folks. At least here in New York. What’s normally a Memorial Day Weekend of temperatures in the 70s and sometimes 80s will instead be one mixed with rain and highs in the 40s and 50s. Ughh. Thank God, we still have baseball to watch, because I don’t think many families in upstate New York will be celebrating this holiday with many outdoor activities.

A highly entertaining crosstown series is taking place in the Bronx this weekend when Juan Soto returns to face his former team. Well, for the first time ever, MLB has put together an official Rivalry Weekend across the league….Yeah, I had no idea either. On paper, there are some entertaining matchups, one of which began on Thursday between two Texas squads from the AL West, the Rangers and Astros. It was a phenomenal game, and we saw the best pitcher’s duel for my money that we’ve had all year.
