Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC
Established in 1904, Big Brothers Big Sisters of NYC (BBBS of NYC) is not only the largest youth mentoring organization in the city but also the first of its kind in the United States. Our aim is to ensure that every young person can reach their full potential. We strive to create and support mentoring relationships that help young individuals envision and achieve their brightest futures. Our core values include prioritizing youth, promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion, maintaining integrity, engaging with compassion, and fostering learning and innovation. We connect caring adult mentors, known as Bigs, with young people in New York City, referred to as Littles, to inspire future leaders. Through various initiatives, including one-on-one mentoring, our Workplace Mentoring Program (involving corporate partners), affinity groups, and the College & Career Success Program, as well as our Bigs in Blue initiative and other community collaborations, BBBS of NYC supports over 2,500 youths each year across all five boroughs. Remarkably, 97% of our Littles advance to the next grade, and 93% gain admission to college.
