The St. Louis Blues entered the 82nd game of the season against the Utah Hockey Club with everything on the line. If you win in regulation, you're a playoff team. Lose, or go to overtime, and you'd have to depend on results elsewhere. So, the big question was whether we'd get the Blues that won 12 in a row or the one that had just lost three in a row. We started getting answers pretty early. St. Louis played well from the start, but they weren't rewarded immediately.

The St. Louis Blues closed out their road portion of the 2024-25 season in Seattle. They needed a win to hold a playoff spot and just for confidence. Unfortunately, many of the bounces that went their way during that 12-game win streak are now going the other way. The Blues are going to have to make their own luck somehow. The first period of the penultimate game against the Seattle Kraken was pretty mundane.

The St. Louis Blues tied a franchise record when they won their 11th in a row. Winning 12 would not be easy, going up against the Colorado Avalanche. However, early on, the Blues made it look easy. They got awarded a questionable power play very early and made it 1-0 just 49 seconds into the game. St. Louis won the key faceoff as they cycled the puck around. They found Zach Bolduc in the slot and he rifled a snipe into the upper portion of the goal.

The end of the season for the St. Louis Blues has been nothing short of miraculous. They came into their game against the Pittsburgh Penguins having won 10 in a row and nine consecutive games on home ice. However, you wouldn't know that with how they played in the first period. The opening 20 minutes was much more reminiscent to the first 10 games of the season than the most recent ones. St. Louis only got three shots on goal, which almost felt generous.

It's hard to believe that the Blues entered their contest with the Montreal Canadiens with just 10 games left in the 2024-25 season. It's been a lot of ups and down, but the regular season is now almost over. Nevertheless, the Blues have saved their best hockey for last and the end of the regular season might not be the end of their season. St. Louis still needs wins, though.
