Step 2 is the validation referendum vote, where citizens turn out to polling centers in Bridgton, Casco and Naples to cast ballots whether to accept or reject the district meeting outcome. The question is whether the validation vote is cost effective or even necessary.

Despite there not being any challengers, The Bridgton News felt Arleen Shepherd has strong ties to the people of Naples and the unique landscape since she and her family operate Camp Skylemar, which is located on Tricky Pond. In the past several years, Shepherd has been getting her feet wet with town politics. She has volunteered her time with several town committee.

After living and working in Plattsburgh, N.Y., the Kasprzaks will soon call Maine their new home. By unanimous vote Tuesday night, the Select Board hired Kasprzak as Bridgton’s town manager. Chairman Bob McHatton said 17 candidates applied for the position, and the list was whittled down to four, then two and finally choosing Kasprzak.

He was creating some new product in preparation for a state-wide event called the Maine Pottery Tour, which showcases ceramic artists in their environment. Every year, during the first weekend in May, the artists open up their studios to the public. This year, the hours are from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sunday. The Pottery Tour has existed for 13 years.

By Dawn De BuskStaff WriterNAPLES — The parties have come to an agreement after a tree-cutting violation that occurred in the shoreland zone following a home fire slightly more than two years ago. On Monday, the Naples Select Board gave the go-ahead for the town manager to sign a consent agreement that will include a fine that is affordable to the landowner ($6,000) and a tree-replanting plan that adheres to the Shoreland Zone Ordinance.
