British Beauty Blogger

I am a beauty writer with experience in both online platforms and traditional media. Over the years, I have authored four beauty books, but I'm not looking to write another one anytime soon! I live in South East London with my two children and a small poodle. My journey in beauty writing began with various newspapers. My first significant role was as the Shopping Editor for a parenting magazine, stepping in when the previous editor left. However, it didn't take long for me to realize that my interest in beauty was far greater than my excitement for limited edition Duplo sets, and I soon moved on from that position.

[unpaid/affiliate] Well, this will short and sweet but I can’t see anything but good on this MAC offer that gives you £50 of free product with a £60 spend. If you’re not too busy with Easter plans, take a moment to list out who would like a MacStack Mascara, a Ruby Woo Lipstick or a Glowplay Cushiony Blush (all my favourite MAC things) for their birthdays, stock up early and get a very decent treat for yourself.

[unpaid/sample] I don’t know if any readers invested in the original formats of scalp scrubs? It felt like grinding sand into your scalp and was thoroughly unpleasant. The new breed, thankfully, have harnessed the power of AHAs and put them in a liquid which is much more user-friendly.

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] With news that Aldi has brought out three ‘dupes’ for Le Labo, it reminded me that Lidl’s Suddenly Female dupe of Lancome La Vie Est Belle makes me laugh every time I hear of it. I mean, tell me the thought process that happened at product development stage that brought them to Suddenly Female. What a shock that would be if you weren’t already.

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Saie is not a new brand – it began life in 2019 – but it’s new to me and I’m immediately drawn in by the product names – yes please to Dew Bronze and Dew Blush, Glossy Bounce and Glowy Super Gel. Brands, of course, don’t spring from nowhere – founder, Laney Crowell, is ex-Estee Lauder and initial seed funding came from Unilever Ventures and Gwyneth Paltrow (Saie launched exclusively to Goop). Further funding rounds have brought on more investors subsequently.

[unpaid/sample/affiliate/ad] Trust me, I am as low maintenance as it’s possible to be with my hair. It’s naturally curly, so I blow dry it straight or lightly wavy and I really don’t like having anything in it such as hair spray or gel. Looks great on the day but overnight, while my curls try to escape their straightened confines, anything extra that I’ve put in it seems to lock those kinks in stone so I wake up looking like the proverbial hedge backwards.
