The Commanders biggest move of the offseason was to trade for Texans left tackle Laremy Tunsil. Tunsil is one of the top left tackles in the NFL, which means incumbent left tackle Brandon Coleman, a third round pick in 2024, is moving position this offseason. Head coach Dan Quinn said prior to the draft that they would start working him at right tackle and go from there, but then the Commanders used their first round pick on offensive tackle Josh Conerly Jr. out of Oregon.

One player flying completely under the radar for the Washington Commanders this past season and throughout the offseason has been free safety Quan Martin. With all the issues in the secondary, particularly at cornerback last season, the Commanders focused their attention on fixing the cornerback position. They traded for Marshon Lattimore during the season, signed Jonathan Jones during free agency and then drafted Trey Amos in the second round.

Hey everyone! Apologies for the radio silence the past few weeks. I got married last weekend and had planned to get a few posts done and scheduled to go out while I was taking a break, but some last minute wedding stuff took over! But I’m back from my break and ready to dive back into football. With that being said, it is now the offseason, so we have time for some more detailed projects or focusing on specific topics.

One of the more under the radar signings for the Commanders this offseason was the re-signing of tight end John Bates. Bates was out of contract this offseason and many wondered if he would be back in Washington with so many other players to get re-signed. The tight end room had some defined roles in 2024, with Zach Ertz clearly the top receiving tight end option and rookie Ben Sinnott drafted in the second round to hopefully develop into a well-rounded option to eventually take over.
