The coastline south of Perth, WA is littered with fantastic places to stay and explore. You could literally spend months checking it all out, and you’re only 3-4 hours from Perth. This is probably why so many people move here or why travellers end up staying for extended periods of time. In fact, there were a few places we fell in love with and even went so far as to check out a mix of properties for sale online to see how affordable the area was.

The team at Australian Marine Centre had their Bar Crusher Blitz recently – an on-water day where keen boaties got to test a mix of Bar Crusher boats. I was fortunate to be invited to test and review a couple of the models, one of which was the Bar Crusher 615XSR – a hardcore rear-centre console, designed for fishing – the ‘R’ meaning the console is at the rear. This model does come in a few different sizes, with the smallest being the 535XS and the largest, the flagship of this range, the 670XSR.

As much as I love the sunny state of Queensland, our counterpart on the other side of the country also has a special feel to it. AustraliaThankfully, our plan of skipping poor weather in South Australia and spending more time in Western Australia turned out to be a smart choice. With my in-laws and stepson with us for a few weeks, we modified our plans slightly – detouring around some areas south of Perth to possibly return after our additional travellers had left for home.

Since mid-April my family – myself, wife and daughters five and seven-years old – has been travelling Australia. We’ve spent several months making our way north along the Western Australian coastline, which has given me a new appreciation for how big our country is. Following on from my previous article, after several days of exploring the stunning ancient landscapes and gorges of Karijini National Park, we headed back to the busy mining town of Port Hedland, with its huge bulk carriers.
