The Washington Capitals announced via press release the ALL CAPS 2025 Playoffs Initiatives. These include a pep rally at Union Market, various giveaways, and more to kick off the postseason. The Capitals and Union Market will host a playoff pep rally this Friday, April 18 from 5-7:30 p.m. The pep really will feature poster making, photo opportunities, a DJ, giveaways, including prints of the GR8NESS mural by David Barr (while supplies last), an appearance by Slapshot and more.

The event was originally moved from Union Station due to an increased number of fans. Photo via Sammi SilberEach year since 2015, the Capitals media vote on their favorite players to interview throughout the season. This year, Tom Wilson won his second award, ending Dylan Strome’s two-year streak. Each eligible media member votes on three players. Sammi Silber of The Hockey News presented Wilson with the award in the locker room. Wilson then gave a speech, though only teammate Jakub Chychrun was in the locker room, changing out of his gear.

This season, the Caps have had alumni members do the Top Shot challenge, where they hit plastic pucks at nine different targets in 30 seconds. On Thursday, former Cap, former Hurricane and always an enigma Alex Semin did the challenge. Of course, he got all nine targets, but came up short of beating Peter Bondra’s alumni record. Semin did it in 14 seconds. Semin then yelled ‘Let’s go Caps!’ and high-fived host Annie Mae.

Last week in a game against the Hurricanes, Connor McMichael got into a fight with Jalen Chatfield. After knocking off McMichael’s helmet, Chatfield then tripped up McMichael and slammed him to the ice, where his head could have easily smashed into it and done damage. The move by Chatfield didn’t get any supplemental discipline, but it left fans wondering why.
