Central Valley Journalism Collaborative

In 2021, the James B. McClatchy Foundation (JBMF) introduced the Central Valley Journalism Collaborative (CVJC), a nonprofit initiative aimed at supporting public service journalism in California’s Central Valley. This effort comes in response to the significant decline of traditional media over the past 15 years and the loss of independent local news in numerous communities. The JBMF created this journalism collaborative to enhance First Amendment press freedoms and promote diversity in the field of journalism, which aligns with the Foundation’s mission and vision.
