    Fraud prevention and awareness is the focus of a public presentation on Tuesday. It’s taking place at 3 pm at Barclay House Retirement Residence. Officials with the OPP and the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre will give those in attendance the knowledge needed to protect themselves from fraud. The centre reports, as of March 31, nearly 13,000 fraud reports have been processed, with nearly 9,100 victims and $165 million lost to fraud.

    Four new wildland fires were confirmed in the Northeast Region on Sunday.  Aviation, Forest Fire and Emergency Services says the third fire of the season in the North Bay District is 1.3 hectares in size and is located on Elliot Island, on the French River.  As of Sunday, it was listed as under control. On Saturday, aerial crews worked with one FireRanger crew and local firefighters on a 0.5 hectare fire just west of North Bay, near Little Lakes Road and north of Hwy 17. It’s listed as out.
