When you’re on your own you can go where you like, at what time you like and how you like. You don’t have to worry about someone else wanting to eat here and there across the city when you’re more into hikes and you’re happy to grab grub wherever you are.

ONCE upon a time going on holiday seemed simple: everyone went to France, Spain or Italy. Now holidaymakers opt for the Caribbean, Mexico and Thailand. Flicking through our own Chalkmarks photo album there’s not many classic hols there, but instead Singapore, Peru and South Korea. Fast forward to this year, we’ve already been to Brazil and South Africa – and we’re planning on China next. It’s a world filled with wonder so why stick to Europe.

Good morning. This is what happened in the world of travel this week: Friday 11th April2025DESPITE the bonkers global politics and economics, the sun is still shining. No terms or conditions apply. How cool is that? Pretty sure it’s been two weeks in a row. We can’t even remember a time when it wasn’t bright and beautiful. It’s not forecast to last but we’ll take it for now. It makes us feel like we are on holiday even when we’re not.
