When I was growing up in the Savannah area, St. Patrick’s Day was always one of my favorite events of the year. We were usually out of school and almost always attended the parade downtown. In the largest downward revision in 15 years, the Bureau of Labor Statistics admitted that more than three-quarters of a million jobs that the Biden-Harris administration “created” never existed in the first place. This news likely rocked the White House, but hardworking Americans are far from shocked. Since the Biden-Harris administration took office, our economy has been in free fall.

Scratching the itch

For the last few days, our dog Charlie has been constantly scratching. He wakes me up at night scratching, so I get up and spray him down with flea spray on the chance he’s picked up a flea or two from the strays outside. Then I check him from head to toe for any sign of a flea. I haven’t found the first one, but fleas are tiny creatures. Maybe I missed one. By this time, I’m scratching my head literally and physically. If Charlie has picked up fleas, then I could have one, too.

I want to give a special thank you to our district’s wonderful Emergency Management Agencies (EMAs) and public safety personnel for keeping us safe during Tropical Storm Debby. The unity, cooperation, and preparedness our EMAs displayed is a case study in how to protect lives and property during a weather emergency. We truly have the best of the best in Georgia’s First. I always say that I’d rather be lucky than good, and in this case, we were both.

I am truly thankful for the rain that fell on our little community of Pine Grove this afternoon. We sat and watched as giant drops fell to the earth, but rain fell faster than the ground could soak it up. Puddles covered the yard. Before it completely stopped, Larry and I went out to check out our gardens—mostly flowers these days. Everything was beautiful, appearing fresh and cool and new. “Remember the big watermelons I used to grow?” Larry asked me. I sure did.
