    Heartbreaking is the only word to describe how the New York State Public High School Athletic Association Girls Bowling Championships ended for Depew. The defending Division II state champions had a 28- pin lead heading into the sixth game Sunday at Strikes ‘N Spares Lanes in Syracuse, but lost to Section IV’s Maine-Endwell by 132 pins, 5,753-5,621. It was Maine- Endwell’s first state title in girls bowling.

Including All-Bee Player of the Year Maya Griffin of Orchard Park, four players are returning First Team recipients. In addition, two of the four selections are ranked in the league’s top-10 for all-time scoring and another selection posted one of the best single seasons in league history.
