A spirited performance by GM Hikaru Nakamura in Saturday's Bullet Brawl saw him return to the throne and collect the $400 first prize after consecutive second-placed finishes in November. 72 wins, 28 of which were part of a timely winning streak, helped Nakamura accrue 266 points, four more than the 24-time winner GM Daniel Naroditsky. Third place was claimed by Turkish prodigy GM Ediz Gurel, who scored two wins over Nakamura in the event.

13 months of silver and bronze medals have come to an end for GM Jose Martinez, who rose to capture his fourth Bullet Brawl title and the $400 first prize in Saturday's event. Battling against GMs Hikaru Nakamura, GM Daniel Naroditsky, and 188 other titled players, Martinez scored 73/80 and posted a score of 264, eclipsing Nakamura by 13 points. Naroditsky rounded out the podium and will receive $150, while GM Andrew Tang will receive $100 for his fourth-place finish.

The 2024 FIDE World Chess Championship will showcase the current champion GM Ding Liren and 18-year-old rising star GM Gukesh Dommaraju. The match will take place at the Resorts World Sentosa in Singapore, the first world championship hosted in Southeast Asia since the 1978 match in Baguio, Philippines. Ding Liren is defending his title after defeating GM Ian Nepomniachtchi in the 2023 FIDE World Chess Championship in the four-game rapid tiebreaker.
