China Africa Project

The China Africa Project (CAP) is an independent multimedia organization focused on examining all aspects of China's interactions with Africa. CAP aims to provide unbiased information, with no political affiliations, and does not support any specific country, organization, or culture. Founded in 2010 by journalist Eric Olander and media expert Dr. Cobus van Staden, the CAP originally started as a personal project for both Eric and Cobus, who worked on it during their evenings and weekends until August 2019. Currently, Eric is dedicated to CAP full-time, producing a daily email newsletter, podcasts, and managing the website. Meanwhile, Cobus continues his role as the lead researcher on China-Africa relations at the South African Institute of International Affairs and contributes to CAP in his free time.
