China News Service (CNS)

China News Service (CNS) serves as a significant state-level news organization in China, dedicated to distributing news globally. It primarily caters to subscribers including individuals from Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macao, overseas Chinese communities, and other foreign nationals. CNS was founded on October 1, 1952, by a group of Chinese journalists and distinguished overseas Chinese intellectuals. The initiative was led by Liao Chengzhi, who was the former vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress. Other notable figures involved in its establishment included cultural and journalistic leaders such as Jin Zhonghua, Hu Yuzhi, and Hong Sisi. Jin Zhonghua, recognized for his expertise in international affairs, became the first president of CNS. Before its current incarnation, CNS was originally known as the International News Service, which was created by Fan Changjiang and Hu Yuzhi in 1938.
