Composites technology expert, Cygnet Texkimp has won a prestigious manufacturing award at the Make UK North West Regional Awards. The Cheshire-based manufacturer was announced winner of the innovation category and recognised for its collaborative work with companies, universities and research organisations around the world at a ceremony held in Burnley on 24th October.

The National Composites Centre (NCC) has further demonstrated the use of its novel cryostat to screen a wide selection of materials at cryogenic temperatures. The low cost method highlights the best candidates for detailed material testing using conventional methods. Multiple cryostats have been developed and released including; microcrack fracture toughness and shear fixtures, with others, such as impact, under development.
