Difficult but it was a long time ago, 23 years. I remember getting a brochure detailing how much money I could spend on a training course relating to how much Service I had completed. No real support, just ‘Have a look through this and pick one’; not real contact after I had left, apart from my friends of course.

Damian uses many of the skills he acquired in the Military, in his role as an ambulance technician with East Midlands Ambulance Service. What’s your Military background? I joined what was formerly known as the Worcestershire and Sherwood Foresters Regiment in 2004 which then amalgamated into what’s now known as The Mercian Regiment. I Served eight years in total and came out of the Military at the end of 2012 having been deployed on three combat tours of Afghanistan.

Mary Petley of the Forces Pension Society outlines family pension entitlements and any criteria that apply. AFPS 75 normally limits adult pensions to the member’s spouse/civil partner. Where the pension is in payment, the family will receive the member’s full pension for the first 91 days (if there are no eligible children) or 182 days (if there are), reducing to 50% of the member’s entitlement thereafter.
