This special doesn’t perhaps visually appeal to all, especially with its rather out-there colour scheme, but it is possessed of a wonderfully agreeable engine. Having looked at this BSA-powered Ariel in real life, more than once in fact, and having gone over the pictures several times too, I’m still undecided – is it a brilliant period special which should be maintained as it is, or is it a monstrosity that deserves breaking and its exquisite engine relocating to a more suitable home?

The Kempton Classic Bike Show & Autojumble is back on Saturday, May 10, and it’s set to be a big one!Held at Kempton Park Racecourse, it’s the South’s biggest and best motorcycle autojumble, and this show will feature a great display of both classic motorcycles and scooters. We’ll also be joined by Scootering Magazine editor Stan Bates, who’ll be on hand to chat all things two-wheels. Outside, the autojumble will be packed with stalls selling parts, spares, tools, memorabilia, and more.
