MOSES LAKE — Big Bend Community College will get rhythm this Saturday when the Drum Fest takes over the Wallenstien theater. “It will be a workshop-slash-mega drum line,” said John Owen, associate professor of music at BBCC. The drumming begins at 6 p.m. with a world drumming workshop, according to the event’s promotional flier. All ages are invited to join a drum circle that will explore drum techniques from a variety of cultures and traditions.

MOSES LAKE — “Let us run with patience the race that is set before us,” the Bible says in the Epistle to the Hebrews, and the students at Crestview Christian School in Moses Lake did just that. Sixteen students turned out Friday morning on a makeshift quarter-mile track laid out on the school lawn for the annual Jog-a-Thon fundraiser. “It’s one of our best fundraisers, because kids get their family and friends (to sponsor them),” said Crestview School Board Chair Joanne Thomas.

Moses Lake City Council members made the decision in a unanimous vote at a special meeting and workshop on homeless issues Friday. Moses Lake Mayor Dustin Swartz said council members considered three options for offering services.

MATTAWA — A Mattawa woman was arrested and booked into the Grant County Jail on suspicion of controlled substance homicide in connection with the death of her 16-year-old daughter in 2024. Ashley Perin Sandoval, 40, was arrested April 14 on suspicion of involving a minor in a drug transaction, distribution to people less than 18 years of age and endangerment with a controlled substance in addition to the homicide charge.
