Control Magazine

Control Magazine serves as a platform for artists to share their ideas and insights on art practices, aiming to foster a meaningful connection with today’s society. Edited by Stephen Willats, this groundbreaking publication has highlighted the work of numerous artists from both the UK and around the globe, sparking engaging discussions about various artistic approaches. Over its eighteen issues, the magazine has featured contributions and original works from a diverse array of artists. Since its inception in 1965, more than 150 artists have had their work and writings published, including notable figures like John Latham, Roy Ascot, Anthony Benjamin, Dan Graham, Mary Kelly, Helen Chadwick, Tony Cragg, Dennis Adams, Lawrence Weiner, Anish Kapoor, Martha Rosler, and Jeremy Deller. The magazine has also collaborated with collectives such as Gallerie in Friedrichstrasse and the Artists Placement Group, as well as early producer’s galleries like Dieter Hacker's. Many of these artists have created unique pieces specifically for the magazine.
