My degree was in social anthropology where I researched whether women and girls had better economic outcomes in matriarchal societies…this was over 20 years ago before I knew you could have a career in D&I! After starting my career in recruitment, my pivot into D&I was while working in construction and was driven by the need to solve the issue of skills shortages, particularly in engineering.

1. What was your journey into diversity and inclusion? My whole career is about people development. As global talent lead for Invent, our consulting brand, I was a strong advocate of gender parity and was promoting women’s programs. But I really discovered the full scope of D&I a few years ago in my 4 year-mobility in the UK. There were so many initiatives, involving HR and business leaders, passionate debates about active inclusion and gender-neutral toilets.
