The cold front reached Lake Balaton on Friday and caused a serious shift concerning the lake’s water level. The difference measured between the two parts of the ‘Hungarian Sea’ reached 51 centimetres. According to Infóstart, the average water level of Lake Balaton was 98 centimetres on Friday. However, the extreme values of that average were astonishingly high: 80 centimetres in Balatonfűzfő and 132 centimetres in Balatonmáriafürdő.

As a result of the government’s measures, creche capacity in Hungary has increased two-fold since 2010, a state secretary at the culture and innovation ministry said on Saturday. There is capacity for 68,000 children in creches today compared with 32,500 fifteen years ago, Róbert Zsigó said in a video posted on the government’s social media page.

As we wrote, PM Orbán spends his winter holiday in India, a country yet not among the fanciest places where European or world leaders go to chill. Hungarian press suggested that Orbán went to India on an Ayurvedic healing tour with the head of a traditional Ayurvedic healing centre in Hungary, but the prime minister dismissed those allegations in a strange interview with Blikk, a Hungarian tabloid. He also said a sentence in that interview which seemingly won the hearts of many Indians.
