Yes, Mayor Patrick Keefe was watching the game. And like all Revere High football fans, he was awestruck by the sheer firepower and determination displayed by the Patriots in the 42-18 rout of Everett Friday night at Everett Veterans Memorial Stadium. Keefe played varsity football for Everett High School in the 1990s before he moved to Revere and became the president of the Junior Patriots Pop Warner organization [now called Revere Youth Football].

As magnificent and heartwarming as Lou Cicatelli’s 100th career victory was a week ago, the longtime Revere High head football coach may have to put Win No. 101 at the top of his list of all-time memories. No GBL team in decades has gone in to Everett Veterans Memorial Stadium and accomplished what Cicatelli’s red-hot team was able to do last Friday night – on Everett High Senior Night no less.

Open Streets, a community event led by Boston Mayor Michelle Wu, will be held in East Boston this Sunday, Sept. 15 from 10:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.The event will be held between Meridian Street from Maverick to Porter and Bennington from Porter to Day Square. The streets will be temporarily closed to vehicular traffic to create room for community and play.

Rep. Adrian Madaro was unopposed in the Mass. House of Representatives First Suffolk District Democratic primary Sept. 3. There is no Republican opponent for the seat in the November election. Madaro has served as East Boston’s state representative since 2015 when he won a special election. He has been unopposed in each of the ensuing biennial elections since that time.
