Ed Notes Online
Norm Scott dedicated 35 years of his career to the NYC Board of Education as a member of the United Federation of Teachers (UFT), primarily teaching at an elementary school in Brooklyn. In the 1970s, he was involved in a caucus that opposed the Unity faction. In 1997, he launched an independent newsletter called Education Notes, designed specifically for NYC teachers, which he transformed into a blog named ednotesonline in 2006. Norm is also a founding member of several UFT caucuses, including the Independent Community of Educators (ICE) and MORE. He co-founded the Grassroots Education Movement (GEM) and Real Reform Studios, which produced the documentary The Inconvenient Truth Behind Waiting for Superman. Additionally, he is part of Change the Stakes, a coalition of parents and teachers advocating against high-stakes testing.
