The pre-draft National Curriculum Framework (NCF) on school education has made some key recommendations about the choice of subjects and exams in classes IX-XII. The All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) has lifted the moratorium on setting up new engineering colleges to give impetus to core engineering branches and courses in emerging technologies. This move comes three years after AICTE stopped approving new colleges due to low enrolments. Following the relaxation, the new colleges will have to apply for at least ‘three core engineering courses’ and one emerging area course, states the AICTE handbook for 2023-24.
