El Faro is a journalism initiative that started in May 1998 in San Salvador, with its main platform being elfaro.net, recognized as the first Internet newspaper created in Latin America. This outlet is dedicated to investigative and thorough journalism, utilizing a variety of platforms. El Faro produces content across multiple genres and formats, including online articles, traditional media like radio, books, documentaries, and live events. From the very beginning, it has focused on Central America, establishing itself as a key source for independent, transparent, and trustworthy journalism that tackles issues like corruption, organized crime, migration, culture, inequality, impunity, and human rights.
