Enviro Humanities
The environmental humanities, also known as ecological humanities, is a field that combines various research areas within the humanities that have focused on environmental issues over the years. This includes topics like environmental literature, philosophy, history, and studies on science and technology from feminist, queer, and Indigenous perspectives, as well as environmental anthropology. By exploring humanistic inquiries related to meaning, culture, ethics, and responsibilities, the environmental humanities seek to tackle urgent environmental challenges. This field works to connect the gap between the sciences and the humanities, as well as between different cultural perspectives—such as Western, Eastern, and Indigenous approaches to nature and humanity's role within it. Furthermore, it challenges the conventional separation of "nature" and "culture," highlighting how many environmental concerns are deeply intertwined with human issues like justice, labor, and politics. Ultimately, the environmental humanities offer a way to blend methods from various disciplines, leading to innovative approaches for understanding and solving environmental problems.
