EPA Images
The European Pressphoto Agency B.V. was established in 1985 by seven prominent national news agencies from Europe. They came together due to a perceived need for alternatives to the predominantly British and American photo services available at that time. The agency was initially set up to facilitate the sharing of images among its member agencies' local services. It also incorporated global services from previous shareholders and other European suppliers. In 2022, the European Pressphoto Agency B.V. underwent a rebranding and is now known as EPA Images. Currently, EPA Images comprises eight shareholders, each a leader in their respective markets: the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) from Greece, Algemeen Nederlands Persbureau (ANP) from the Netherlands, Agenzia Nazionale Stampa Associata (ANSA) from Italy, Agencia EFE from Spain, KEYSTONE-SDA-ATS AG from Switzerland, Lusa – Agência de Notícias de Portugal from Portugal, Magyar Távirati Iroda (MTI) from Hungary, and Polska Agencja Prasowa (pap) from Poland.
