Fernando Tatis Jr. had his first multi-home run game as the Padres (14-3, 1st NL West) mounted a comeback 10-4 win over the Chicago Cubs (11-8, 1st NL Central) to remain unbeaten through their first 11 home games. Tatis’ second homer, part of a back-to-back pair with Luis Arraez, was a part of a four-run eighth inning and gave the Friars nine runs in their last three innings at bat. Entering the sixth inning, the Padres trailed 3-1.

San Diego Wave FC (1-2-1, 4 pts, 8th NWSL) allowed two goals early in the first half, including a penalty, and couldn’t find the scoresheet in a 2-0 loss to undefeated Kansas City Current (4-0-0, 12 pts, 1st NWSL). Many of the Wave’s eight international players on the match roster were limited in minutes they played after they only got one practice between rejoining the club from the one-week FIFA international window and playing in Saturday’s match.

San Diego FC dropped their second match in club history where five goals were scored in a 3-2 defeat to the Colorado Rapids. Midfielder Luca de la Torre tied the match in the 50th minute and forward Tomas Angel, just five minutes after entering the match, made it a one-goal game with an 89th-minute score. San Diego managed just nine shots (four on target) to Colorado’s 21 shots (and nine on target). Djordje Mihailovic opened the scoring on a penalty in the 37th minute.

The San Diego Mojo capped their 3-1 win over the first-place and defending PVF champion Omaha Supernovas with a convincing 25-13 set-4 victory to remain in the playoff race for at least a little bit longer. However, their 8-14 record makes it incredibly hard and unlikely to get there, even if they were to win out. If the Mojo (8-14, 6th PVF) were to win out, the Orlando Valkyries (13-10, 3rd PVF) could only win one more match out of five total remaining.

For the second time this season, Padres pitching threw shutouts in back-to-back games in a 2-0 win over the Colorado Rockies. Kyle Hart threw six innings allowing just one hit in his third start in a Padres uniform and earned his second win. His outing comes a day after Nick Pivetta threw seven shutout innings against the Rockies on Friday in a 8-0 Padres win. The Padres pitching staff’s combined 2.86 ERA after the game on Saturday is second in the majors behind just the New York Mets (2.47).
