The 2025 African Fact-Checking Awards, the continent’s longest-running celebration of fact-checking journalism, is now open to journalists, student journalists, and professional fact-checkers. Now in its 12th year, the awards honour those who promote accuracy and fight misinformation. “Their work is vital for transparency and trust,” said Hlalani Gumpo, Africa Check’s head of outreach. In 2024, the awards received 241 entries from 29 countries. Organisers expect even more this year.
