Falls Church News-Press
The Falls Church News-Press is a weekly publication located in Falls Church, Virginia. It was established in 1991 by Nicholas F. Benton, who serves as the Owner and Editor-in-Chief. In his editorials, Benton often refers to the publication as the "paper-of-record" for the city. The idea for the periodical originated from a presentation he made to the local Chamber of Commerce, where he shared his vision of promoting the services of local businesses. Following his presentation, he received the Chamber's endorsement and a list of 250 businesses to contact. Out of those, 130 agreed to advertise in the publication. With their postcards showing their commitment as collateral, Benton was able to secure initial funding to launch the Falls Church News-Press.

Just days after Donald Trump took office, Trump and unelected billionaire Elon Musk started slashing federal jobs without rhyme or reason. In the states where attorneys general acted, workers have gotten some protections.

Are there any adults in the Trump White House? Media photos show adult humans coming and going, but the missives issued by Trump, his Cabinet members, and the White House press operation appear to belie any adult thought processes. It’s no secret that Trump’s personal values focus on himself and ostentation, the gaudier the better. What he and his vice president call the “cherished” Oval Office has become a gilded stage set for televised gatherings, the flashier the shiny gewgaws, the better.

I will start this series with the first look after World War I when humanity suffered its first ever effort at coping with a world driven by a massive conflagration that ripped asunder the end of the capitalist world as we knew it far sooner than we expected and threw humanity into the utter latest phase of what we are now beginning to better appreciate as the end of an epoch that could last eons.

The City of Falls Church may soon be facing the most serious crisis in its history. At a City Council work session Monday night, residents spent three tense hours debating a single penny on the tax rate—an ominous sign of the financial pressure already mounting. By October, a range of Covid-era relief funds will run out, reserves will be depleted, and many taxpayers could find themselves with little to fall back on besides their own savings—however long those might last.

The U.S. population as a whole is now finding out what it’s like to be in a cult. Every move that the new Trump administration has been taking, especially since his re-election in 2024, corresponds to what has been a cookie cutter script for the myriad authoritarian anti-science cults that exploded across the land in the late 1960s and 1970s.
