The most common form of deadly nightshade is belladonna (Atropa bella-donna), a toxic perennial plant with dark green oval-shaped leaves, shiny purple-black berries, and purple bell-shaped flowers. A medium-sized bushy plant, deadly nightshade grows to be approximately 3 to 4 feet tall. All parts of the belladonna are highly toxic to humans and pets.
